# Lacuna Signer

Lacuna Signer is an intelligent document and signatures manager. With it, you can collect different types of signatures with a fast, intuitive and customizable system.

## Characteristics

* **Signatures with legal validity**: Signer performs digital and electronic signatures of documents such as proxies, commercial proposals, contracts and medical reports.
* **Each client with its own instance**: Signer instances, their databases and storage, are individual, this means more control in a more personalized environment.

## How Signer fits your application

Your application talks to Signer through the REST API, with an API key in the `X-Api-Key` header, or through the client libraries for .NET, Java, Node.js and PHP. With the signing widget, it shows the signing screen in its own page, and it receives the documents' events on a webhook endpoint. Signer runs the flow: it notifies the participants of each step, collects their signatures (with a digital certificate, or electronically with the checks you require) and matches each person to a user. When the document is concluded, your application downloads the signed file, the printer-friendly version with the signatures manifest, or the original. Each box in the diagram links to its page.

## *On premises*

As mentioned above, Signer can be used in the cloud (modality SaaS, in [dropsigner.com](https://www.dropsigner.com/)) or you can have your own instance ("on premises"). See the article [Signer *on premises*](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/signer/on-premises) for more informations.
