SafeID Desktop test routines

Before each release, the routines below are run manually with the production build, on every environment. Record the screen while running them: the recording is the evidence that the routine was performed.

The SafeID Desktop interface is in Portuguese, so the labels below are quoted as they appear on screen, followed by their meaning.

Auto-update validation

This routine confirms that the user can postpone the update and keep using the app, that the postponed update is installed when the app quits, and that the Atualizar (Update) button installs the new version right away.

Prerequisites:

  • The previous version installed (package from the download section), with the device paired and the certificate installed.
  • The new version published on the update server of the environment under test (production or homologation).
note

The app checks for updates a few seconds after it starts and downloads the new version in the background. The update dialog only appears when the download finishes, which can take a few minutes.

Postponing the update

  1. Show the installed version: in the tray, the first menu item shows the app name and version.
  2. Start SafeID Desktop and wait for the "Nova versão disponível!" (New version available!) dialog, with the Atualizar (Update) and Agora não (Not now) buttons.
  3. Click Agora não. The dialog closes and the app stays open. Closing the dialog with the window's close button has the same effect.
  4. Confirm in the tray that the version is still the previous one.
  5. On the Web PKI test site, request a signature and approve it on the mobile device. Check that the signature succeeded.

Update on quit

  1. Quit the app from the tray (Encerrar, Quit). The postponed update is installed at this point.
  2. Start SafeID Desktop again. Confirm in the tray that the version is the new one and that the update dialog does not appear.
  3. On the test site, request a signature and approve it on the mobile device. Check that the signature succeeded.

Updating from the dialog

  1. Go back to the previous version: uninstall the app and install the previous version's package.
  2. Start SafeID Desktop and, when the "Nova versão disponível!" dialog appears, click Atualizar. The app closes and installs the new version; if it does not reopen by itself, start it.
  3. Confirm in the tray that the version is the new one.
  4. On the test site, request a signature and approve it on the mobile device. Check that the signature succeeded.
