Update Amplia from 4.x to 5.0

Version 5.0 of Amplia has been migrated to ASP.NET Core 10.0, the newest LTS release of ASP.NET Core, supported by Microsoft until November 2028.

Because of that, to update your on-premises instance, you must install the ASP.NET Core Runtime 10.0 before installing the new version.

Please refer to the Install the ASP.NET Core Runtime 10.0 section of the installation procedure corresponding to your platform:

note

.NET 10 no longer supports some older operating system versions, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and Oracle Linux 7. If your server runs one of them, move the instance to a supported version before updating.

note

On Docker, there's nothing to do: the 5.0 image is already based on the ASP.NET Core 10.0 image. Use the lacunasoftware/amplia:5.0 image (see Setup on Docker).

Then update Amplia as usual:

Database model update

This update changes the database model. By default, Amplia updates the database model by itself when it starts. If Amplia runs without owner privileges over the database, update the database model with the update-db command before starting the new version (see Running Amplia without db_owner privileges).

Prometheus metrics

Amplia 5.0 no longer exposes metrics for Prometheus (the experimental integration added in 4.13.0). If you collect these metrics, remove Amplia from your Prometheus configuration.

Azure Key Vault key stores

The Azure Key Vault key store now uses version 4 of the Azure SDK. Existing settings (AppId with AppKey or CertThumb) keep working. Amplia 5.0 also adds the UseManagedIdentity setting, to authenticate with the managed identity of the host instead of an application secret or certificate.

Azure App Services

If your Amplia instance is hosted on Azure App Services as described on Installing Amplia on Azure App Services (Linux App Service Plan running the Docker image), no change to the stack settings is needed: import the 5.0 image and select its tag.

If your instance runs on a Windows-based App Service Plan, on the Stack settings section of Configuration > General settings, set the Stack setting to .NET and the .NET version setting to .NET 10.
