# Amplia Reg

Amplia Reg is a companion system to [Amplia](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/amplia) that performs the activities of a Registration Authority (RA). Before a
certificate is issued, someone has to confirm who the holder is. Amplia Reg runs that process: it takes the order, guides registration
agents through identity validation and confirmation, keeps a signed record of every step and, once the order is approved, lets the
holder issue the certificate. The certificate itself is issued by Amplia, the Certification Authority (CA).

## How it works

Every certificate starts as an **order** in Amplia Reg and goes through four stages:

1. **Order**: your application creates the order through the [REST API](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/amplia-reg/integration/create-order), or a registration agent creates it
   in the control panel.
2. **Identity validation**: a validation agent checks the holder's data, documents and biometrics, in person or by videoconference.
Depending on the certificate type, external services are also checked, such as biometric databases, government data and document
validation. The agent then signs the order's dossier and the holder's agreement with their own certificate.
3. **Confirmation**: a second agent, the confirmation agent, reviews the order and approves it, sends it back for correction, or declines
it. Once the order is approved, the holder receives the issue key and link by email and SMS.
4. **Issuance**: the holder opens the issue link and the key pair is generated on their computer or crypto token. Amplia Reg then asks
Amplia to issue the certificate and the browser installs it.

Each status change is recorded in the order's audit trail and can be sent to your application through [webhooks](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/amplia-reg/integration/webhooks).
See [How certificate issuance works](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/amplia-reg/issuance) for the full flow, every order status and what happens between Amplia Reg and Amplia.

## Main features

* Identity validation in person, by videoconference or by self-service video identification
* Collection of the holder's documents, photo and biometrics, with liveness detection
* Two-agent workflow: validation and confirmation by different agents
* Dossier and agreement signed digitally by the registration agents
* Issuance on the holder's computer, on crypto devices (tokens and smart cards) or in the cloud
* Pre-approved orders for electronic registration authorities
* Management of certification authorities, registration authorities, service places, registration agents and their devices
* Full audit trail, reports and webhooks for integration

## On-premises

Amplia Reg can be used as a service (SaaS) or you can host your own instance. See the article [Amplia Reg on-premises](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/amplia-reg/on-premises) for more information.

## Integration

See our [Integration Guide](https://docs.lacunasoftware.com/en-us/articles/amplia-reg/integration) to get started with integrating your existing application to Amplia Reg.
